To an extent the whole ‘you can’t date your friend’s exes’ rule makes sense but eventually you and your ex have to move on. In my personal life it is not a big deal for my exes to date one of my friends, because I’m friends with the majority of my exes so why not? With this in mind, I applaud Nina, Ian and Nikki for showing others that it is possible to be friends with your ex, and have your friends date your ex. So when rumors flew that the split of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, and the start of Nikki Reed and Ian caused a girl fight I was confused.

This all sounds very complicated and as though I’m the girl explaining Ferris Bueller being sick to Ben Stein but let me break it down for you:

-Nina Dobrev is an actress (Vampire Diaries, Degrassi etc)

-Nikki Reed is also an actress (Twilight,Thirteen etc)

-Ian Somerhalder is, you guessed it, and actor! (Vampire Diaries)

-Nina and Nikki are friends (and were prior to the sparking of Nikki and Ian as a ship)

-Nina and Ian met on the set of their hit show ‘The Vampire Diaries’ back in 2009.

-The couple began dating in 2010, much like their characters #TeamDelena

-In May 2013 the couple split (cool, couples do that ok).

-In 2015 Ian and Nikki began dating

-In 2015 the internet flipped out because HOW COULD NIKKI DO THAT TO NINA?!…sigh.

-Ian and Nikki are now married (and fun fact are not really vampires)

Now that you are mostly caught up, let me continue.

The three slammed rumors of any feud with this Instagram photo from a dinner in Atlanta posted a week before Valentine’s Day:

It was accompanied with the following caption when posted by Somerhalder:

“Chilling with these two… After years of websites pretending these two badass ladies knew each other well and baseless, false information of back stabbing and hatred from low-brow websites filled the minds and hearts of fans… They finally were able to get together for their first real dinner. Let’s stop spreading hate everyone, there’s already too much of that right now in our world. Join in on the love. Only love here- always has been always will be. Media companies preying on the passion from vulnerable and or impressionable minds of fans to sell advertising through click-though traffic is a disease in our society. It’s poisonous.
