By the blood, sweat, tears, dreams, and hands of a group of Toronto future vikings a Sterling Road lot was transformed into another world yesterday.
The team behind Heavy Meta, Canada’s largest art car/super fu*king cool fire breathing dragon, created a taste of Burning Man in a successful effort to get the vehicle to the playa next month. Complete with intoxicating art, fire performers, DJs, and a community of costumed future vikings Heavy Meta parents Kevin Bracken and Marie Poliak, in partnership with Secret Society, put on their second dragon fundraiser following March’s event at One Loft.
The event, which ran from noon to 11pm became a whole other world for attendees with one avid burner telling me as we had a chat in the plounge:

I can’t make it to the burn this year and it breaks my heart. But this is as close as I will get to it and I am so happy

Metaverse 002 brought a bit of Toronto flair too having a Caplansky’s food truck, and foodie trend sushi burritos/poke bowls keeping party goers happy and full.

Next up for the Heavy Meta team is a trip to Detroit for Maker Faire, for full photo/video coverage be sure to follow the dragon on Instagram: @heavymetadragon
