I’m certain you have all put together a New Year’s resolution by now. You’re going to “eat healthier” “go to the gym” “stop smoking” which yes are things you should strive to accomplish but will likely fizzle by March at the latest. You are not alone in this because every year my resolution is long forgotten by Valentine’ Day and I keep trying to ride the “new year, new me” high.
This year I decided to take the same I approach as I do to the Summer with a to do list. I have put together a list of 12 “to do resolutions” each with one month to complete. I thought it would be a little more fun if I were to post them on my site and keep you all updated at the end of the month on my progress. I am however on a mission this year to learn to express my emotions better, and embrace that they do exist and are valid. And in general just be nicer to people.
NOTE: THESE ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON LIFE CHANGING; THESE ARE GUIDELINES ESSENTIALLY.
OKKKKKAAAAAAAAY let’s go:
1. JANUARY: Do yoga for 5 min a day, every day.
This one incorporates fitness, and mental well being. The main goal of this resolution is to remove myself from the outside world and my own thoughts for a few minutes a day. I want to be more of a positive/happy person.
2. FEBRUARY: Limit social media use to a maximum of 4 uses per week.
I refuse to be one of those people who is glued to her screen at all points in time but I do know that social media is the only form of contact some people have. Additionally my brand runs on social media, and email contact.
3. MARCH: Listen to one “new” song a day.
The song doesn’t have to be recently released this is just a way to expand my musical knowledge and library.
4. APRIL: Launch Original Sin Boutique
This is my accessory online boutique I always babble about.
5. MAY: Help stop the stigma
“CMHA’s Mental Health Week is an annual national event that takes place during the first week in May to encourage people from all walks of life to learn, talk, reflect and engage with others on all issues relating to mental health. Visit www.mentalhealthweek.ca for more information.”
I want to help stop the stigma against those including myself who suffer from mental health issues and hopefully this will bleed into the entire year.
6. JUNE: Ride a skateboard/longboard.
Now I by no means have to become a professional I just want to be able to stand on one without panicking.
7. JULY: Leave Toronto.
Not for good necessarily but I think a break in normality and routine is something we all need sometimes.
8. AUGUST: Have a makeup free day once a week.
This one is more about being comfortable in my own skin #NOTBRAVE.
9. SEPTEMBER: Finish a book
Honestly it is pretty sad that this has to be a resolution.
10. OCTOBER: Eat no candy until Halloween:
Originally I was going to do a sugar free month but I’m going to take it slowly.
11. NOVEMBER: Don’t let seasonal depression take over
This is especially hard living in Canada with such frigid Winters but I can do it, I hope.
12. DECEMBER: Learn 5 phrases in Spanish
OLE!
