I have successfully been converting my friends during this quarantine to TikTok addicts and I am not even a little bit sorry about it. This week I spoke with one of my favourite creators and a former Musical.ly star (which is now TikTok) DBrazierr. We talk about isolation pass times, TikTok (of course) and more in this week’s #TMITuesday interview ayyeeeeee
- How are you spending your time during this quarantine?
During quarantine I’ve been spending most of my time doing artwork and filming videos. I recently just got the opportunity to debut my first original character which I’m pretty proud of. I do art and film almost all the time, but quarantine basically allowed me hyper focus on the certain ideas and pieces I’ve been wanting to do. And, as unfortunate as the situation is I’m trying to make the best of the time.
- Since today is #TMITuesday can you tell the lovely readers something about you that they may not already know?
Hmm..something people may not already know is that I’ve almost lost an eye…twice. The first time it was because I was hit in the face with a baseball bat, the second time it was because a lamp fell on my face. The only cool part about it all was that I kind of looked like I was about to turn into the hulk for 4 straight weeks.
- What is your least favourite TikTok trend?
My least favourite TikTok trend would probably be people not giving credit where credit is due. I obviously understand trends can get so massive to the point where the original gets lost in the mix and it’s hard to find the source but I see nothing wrong with being inspired or helping smaller creators grow, I feel like it only creates a stronger community for all parties.
- If you could choose one song to be your ‘theme song’ what would it be and why?
If I could choose any song to be my theme it’d probably be Israel by Chance The Rapper ft None Gypsy and as far as why it would probably just be because I love Chance’s music. This song in particular inspired me to take my artwork seriously, I created my favourite piece to this song. It’s a beautifully put together and super chill, I feel like it fits my vibe for the most part.
- What is your goal as a creator?
My goal as a creator would probably be to have the opportunity to create or be apart of a creation bigger than myself. I want to build a resume so amazing that it would put me in a position to be able to help other passionate artist get a jump start at achieving their goals. Of course, that is not to say I don’t have that ability now but on a much larger scale is definitely the goal. And, this may sound a bit impossible but I’ve always wanted to be apart of the MCU. Any film would be nice really but I genuinely believe I could play a part in the MCU, so just putting myself out there and building that resume is definitely what I’m working towards.
- Speaking of creators, is there a creator you would most like to collab with?
As far as people I’d like to collaborate with, I’d probably say @kiri.jaz . I got the opportunity to meet her at the TikTok Black Creator Summit and she was super dope and full of good energy but we unfortunately never got the chance to make a video. A collaboration with any of my fellow black creators would be dope, but me and Jaz definitely have to get a couple videos in one day.
- Aside from Wonderbread, what is your go-to snack?
LMAOO bread really is the best snack on the planet but if I had to choose an alternative it’d probably be banana chips. They are the best chips hands down, no question.
- Do you believe that creators and influencers have the social responsibility to promote social distancing?
I do believe creators and influencers have a responsibility to promote social distancing. If they don’t it’s not like I view them as any less of a good person but social distancing is important. Some people may not even check the news so just being that possible second source to let people know what’s happening and what they can do to stay safe can 100% help out, or possibly even save a life so I don’t see why not.
- Coke or Pepsi?
To be honest with you I’m not a fan of either, not a huge soda drinker but I mean…. if they’re trying to throw me a sponsor I think they’re both fantastic, 10/10 would recommend.
- What’s next for you?
I’d probably say getting my most consistent Youtuber plaque is what’s next for me, I’m going to work on getting my flow for longer style content going. As much as I love short style videos, I feel like there’s more to me than that so as funny as it is that I don’t post on there often, I believe it’s time I try.
