It was important for me as a white person to take a break from content production and focus on educating myself on the systematic oppression of black people around the world. To shift the focus from my content on my social media to donating, sharing/signing petitions and spreading the word to help end police brutality and racism. I have been so blessed not just in my career but my life to work with so many incredible black creators and I felt it was important to participate in the media blackout, and not just with a black square on Instagram.
The protests and voices heard worldwide have been inspiring. The arrests of George Floyd’s murderers is great but the fight is not over. Black lives matter today, tomorrow and forever. We will not rest, and the voices will be heard.
I have decided in this first post to list petitions to sign, and bail fund donations for protesters unjustly arrested thanks to BLEU. Please also see the official BLM site to see what you can do.
