Kailyn Lowry’s 15-year-old son, formerly known as Isaac, has publicly come out as gay and announced he will now go by his middle name, Elliott. The heartfelt revelation occurred during a recent episode of their podcast, Barely Famous, aired on June 5.

Elliott expressed his desire to share his truth on his own terms, stating, “I’m doing it for me. Let me have my moment. I’m really sick of people coming up with their own stories and putting things in their own words and things coming out on other people’s terms about me, because my life isn’t entertainment for other people.”
He also discussed the challenges of growing up in the public eye, noting that being on television made it difficult to be his authentic self. “It’s very important to me,” Elliott said. “I feel like growing up on TV, it’s hard to show who you really are when a camera is in front of you all the time. It’s almost like you have a TV face. It’s harder to be yourself and to be more comfortable.”

The decision to adopt his middle name coincided with his transition to a new high school. Kailyn shared that she initially noticed the change when school documents referred to him as Elliott. “The paperwork all said Elliott,” she explained. “Like the teachers were writing Elliott, and it was like, ‘Comments about Elliott.’ And I was like, ‘Wait a minute. Are we going by Elliott now?’”
Kailyn, who first appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant at age 17, has been supportive of Elliott’s journey. She emphasized the importance of allowing him to share his story in his own way, stating, “It’s super important to him and to our family to keep things as planned, and I’m not going to take this moment away from him.”
Elliott is the eldest of Kailyn’s seven children and splits his time between her home and that of his father, Jo Rivera. He is passionate about American Sign Language, reading, and baking, and has begun to establish his own presence on social media.
This announcement comes during Pride Month, highlighting Elliott’s courage in embracing his identity and sharing his journey with the public.
