#TMITuesday: 10 Questions with MTV’s Rashida Zakiya Beach

MTV offers an amazing platform for it’s personalities but more so introduces the world to some really dope people (and some awful people). Luckily, this week’s feature does not fall under the bracketed people. On the third season of Are You The One viewers were introduced to another great cast including Rashida Beach who stole our hearts with her Blah Blah Blah Bullshit clip. I sat down to ask her about her time on the show, rumored clothing line, love life, and more in this week’s interview.

  1. How has your life changed since appearing on Are You the One? Has your perspective on dating changed at all?

My life has changed since appearing on Are You the One, but not drastically. I am the same person whether I am on TV or not. I feel like the people in my life changed. Of course I have a larger fan base and we won! So having more money was cool. They’re those people looking for a hand out since they think you’ve made or the people that check on you more often now. I have to be more careful about who I surround myself with. My bad relationship experience has taught me that I have to guard my heart, especially after being on TV. IMG_1396 (1)

My perspective has changed a lot after being on the show. The show really made me re-evaluate my ideas about dating. I realized that it may not just be the guy, but it is also me! I am choosing the wrong guys. The jocks, I go for the guys that are the complete opposite of a lover boy. I am also headstrong which can be intimidating for guys. The show made me think that maybe I have unrealistic standards and that I should really take my time to fully get to know a person before I establish that we are an item. Are You the One was really an emotional rollercoaster. You have to stay strong and grounded in who are you, but yet open to criticism. I am a lot more patient when it comes to dating. I take my time going slow makes it easier for me to notice the signs. I feel a lot more confident about what I have to offer in a relationship. Being away with people I just met, showed me a lot about myself and how I deal with other people. I feel stronger than before. I communicate better and control my temper. I just feel like I matured as a woman. Throughout the show I was constantly encouraging and uplifting others so I had no choice but to me strong.

2. You, and your match did not work out sadly, do the two of your still keep in touch?

We barely keep in touch, unfortunately. I have texted him before and didn’t get a response so I just didn’t worry about it. He has replied on social media a few times, twitter usually. Regardless It doesn’t change the way I feel. Devin’s efforts help change my life forever. He really played a big part in us winning the game. He knew how much it meant to me. We shared so many special times together of us making our own music. I would do the beat or he would and then we would take turns freestyling lol. wow I would always have a fun time. If I knew he was around. Now, don’t get me wrong he can get a little crazy. but that’s what I love about him.

3. On that note, do you keep in touch with anyone from the cast?

The people I keep in touch with the most are Amanda and Chelsey. I also chat with Ki Ki, Melanie, Chey and Stacey sometimes. I also recently got connected with Brittney. She will be moving to Atlanta soon so hopefully I will see her more often! Zak and I talk as well… Hunter he hits me up usually through social media. Recently on Instagram he said “He loved Me.” I have a lot of love for Mike he hits me up sometimes as well. I actually keep in contact with most of the cast. If not through phone it will be through twitter on Instagram. We are really like a family. “Although not all of them would say that” lol

4. It’s been rumored that you are working on a clothing line, who or what inspires your looks?

Yes, I am working on a clothing line. It was inspired by my emphasized line on the first commercial for Are You the One? A clip of me saying “Blah Blah Blah Bullshit” in response to Alec who kissed me and then kissed Stacey right after all within the first episode. Well a lot of people thought the line was hilarious so I decided to create a logo of a bull taking a shit ! lol and then in the front of the beanie cap it has the words BLAH BLAH BLAH ! blahblahblah It is something that I feel really passionate about because it is a gift to my fans. This is just the beginning I have been working under the guidance of a popular designer in Atlanta, HOUSE OF KISSES, learning how to make dresses, shirts, and blouses.etc. I am really excited about what is in store for RZBEACH APPREAL. I would like to create shirts and blouses etc., but I am starting off slow with one featured item, which are the beanies!

After the show I thought it would be fitting to create something that my fans could relate to. Everyone likes a comfy beanie. I know I do!!

5. Since today is #TMITuesday, can you tell the readers something about you that they may not already know?

Some readers may not know that I have a Bachelors degree of Arts. I studied theatre with a concentration of performance and received a business minor. I would like to eventually open up my own arts program for underprivileged students. Right after college I became a teacher and realized how much I loved to teach and help others. So using my gift of singing, dancing, and acting to teach others just seems like a dream life!

6. A lot of AYTO cast members have been competing on MTV’s The Challenge; if you were to be asked to be on the show, who would you want to compete the most with? What about the least?

If I were to compete on the show I would want to compete with Zak

  • He is hilarious
  • He is athletic (even though you wouldn’t think he would be lol be he actually has very fast legs)
  • I know he would know what to say if I am nervous about a challenge. He is a great motivator !
  • Did I mention that he is hilarious !!! lol

The least?

The least would be Nelson lol He is cool but he is such a pretty boy. He would be too concerned about making sure he looks good. He also only won one challenge throughout the show. I would rather choose someone else instead of him.

7. What would you say is your “theme song”?

My Theme Song Is Justin Bieber “I’ll Show You”

Sometimes it’s hard to do the right thing
When the pressure’s coming down like lightning
It’s like they want me to be perfect
When they don’t even know that I’m hurting

This life’s not easy, I’m not made out of steel
Don’t forget that I’m human, don’t forget that I’m real
Act like you know me, but you never will
But that’s one thing that I know for sure
I’ll show you
I’ll show you
I’ll show you
I’ll show you

This theme is the story of my life. I feel like a lot of people may judge me or think they know me but they really don’t. She is stuck up, she is a brat, or she is this and she is that… women hear it the most. I’ll show you is the lyric that stays in my head. I will prove them all wrong that I can and I will be successful. I love this song. The lyrics are genuine and express exactly how I feel.

8. Quite a few match, and non-match couples have been active on social media making it clear they are still an item: i.e. former #TMITuesday interviewee Zak, and his non-match Hannah. Is there anyone you are surprised didn’t make it?

I was surprised that we actually had couples that made it. We were really a crazy bunch lol. I am so happy for Brittney and Chuck and Zak & Hannah. It shows you that even with the data and facts love conquers all.

9. What’s an average day like for you?

Every day is something new. Right now I want to take the time to really explore my creative talents. Whether I am designing an outfit, performing in a play or film, or marketing for other brands; every day I am working towards my goals. I am constantly applying for castings and improving on my singing and acting abilities. I recently was in the musical “Our Father” which was showcased March 26 at the Motorplex Theater in Atlanta GA. I was a hair model for the Bronner Brother’s hair show. I help assist House of Kisses, buying fabric and sewing. I really just go with the flow of my day. I make a list of goals I want to accomplish for the day and I go for it.

I rarely look at TV, but one of my favorite shows you can catch me watching is Orange is The New Black. I am usually on YouTube researching something or learning a new video editing concept. People don’t know it but I’m really a nerd lol.

10. What’s next for you Rashida

RZBEACH LLC is what’s next. I am working on branding myself! I am a walking business. I am striving to use my talents to help other people but also create monetary revenue for myself. I have established my own website, blog and store. www.rzbeachllc.com

I have decided that I will make my own opportunity and not wait for someone to cast me or give me the job. I am working every day to establish my brand so that I can be an established business woman.

The next step for me will hopefully be being cast in another film

Record an album

Produce my own independent film

Start teaching classes for singing acting and dance

These are just a few of my ideas of what’s next for me. I believe there is no limit to what I can accomplish and I am ready to show everyone that if I can do it you can do it!
