The South African jungle will soon be filled with celebs and our lovely hosts Julia and Robert.
I am still giddy over the joy that was the UK series with G.K Barry and The Rev, but I always look forward the down-under’s rendition of the series.

Matty J

Leading Man

From handing out roses on The Bachelor Australia to living in the jungle. The first contestant to be revealed is Matty ‘J’ Johnson. 

Matty appeared on the fifth season of The Bachelor in 2017, where he chose now wife Laura Byrne. Since their appearance on the reality show, they have welcomed two children Marlie-Mae and Lola. 

“Cat (or lion) is out of the bag! It’s always been a dream of mine to survive in the African jungle on nothing but zebra testicles and cold beans and this year it’s going to be a reality. Wish me luck,” he wrote on Instagram.

According to Women’s Weekly this is who may join Matty in the jungle:

A TV Host

It looks like this clue refers to Nicky Buckley. In early January, I’m A Celeb‘s official Instagram posted a video of the TV Host sharing clues of their identity. And while their face was hidden and their voice was distorted, the celebrity’s unique engagement ring was on full display. Fans quickly identified it as Nicky’s engagement ring in the comments section, and the video was deleted shortly after.

A Headline-Grabbing Olympian

Channel Ten described this celebrity as a “freestyle lover”. Based on these clues, everyone is certain it’s Rachael ‘RayGun’ Gunn. She definitely made headlines during the Paris Olympics, and freestyle is a type of breakdancing. 

A Star of the Silver Screen

Fans of I’m A Celeb have speculated online they think this clue refers to either Sigrid Thornton or Eric Bana. However, Australia has many silver screen stars: Nicole Kidman, Isla Fisher, Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, Bryan Brown… We really could go on. 

A Matinee Idol

Everyone seems to think Rob Mills is the ‘matinee idol’, which makes sense. He got his start on Australian Idol but, he primarily does musical theatre now — and theatre shows always have a ‘matinee…’ 

A Football Strongman

We’ve seen I’m A Celeb fans make a few guesses as to who this could be: Sam Thaiday, Billy Slater, Jason Akkermanis… Only time will tell!

A Leading Lady

The leading theory is that this clue is referring to Lucy Durak. 

A Sporting Hero

This could be Jessica Fox… Or even Emma McKeon considering she just announced her retirement. 

A Chart-Topper

Australia has many chart toppers; Samantha Jade, Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian… It could be anyone. 

A Comedy Genius

Fans think (read: hope) this will be Sam Pang. 

A Pop Culture Icon

I’m A Celeb sleuths think this could be Gretel Killeen or Lara Worthington (née Bingle). 

A Radio Star

Fans have guessed either Jackie O, Tommy Little or Carrie Bickmore for this clue. 

A Stadium Superstar

There’s no clear frontrunner when it comes to this clue… 

A Controversial Reality Star

The clue for this celeb was, “Our digs in South Africa are known for making an impression, so will it be love at first sight, or will this Reality Star get a reality check?” Fans think this clue nods to Harrison Boon from the 2023 season of Married At First Sight.

A Romantic Leading Man

Rumours are flying around this particular clue. In its clue, Channel 10 asked, “Can Mr Smooth sweet talk his way through camp? Hope he doesn’t break his heart!” Initially, this had us looking at romance-driven reality shows like Married at First Sight and The Bachelor. And we appear to have been on the right track as the Bachelor star, smooth-talking Aussie television personality Matty J Johnson has scored the gig.

The 37-year-old said it was his dream to “survive in the African jungle on nothing but zebra testicles and cold beans and this year it’s going to be a reality.”

AFL Star

The clue states “From the roar of the crowd to the roar of the lions” which immediately makes us think of the Brisbane Lions. Fans are speculating that it could be Joe Daniher, as the clue also mentions an AFL premiership winner who is “fresh from the game”. Something that does describe Joe!

An English TikToker

We only received a vague clue for this contestant: “An English TikToker is heading into the African jungle. The only thing they’ll be posting is a cry for help.” The hosts hinted that they have a large following. A popular choice amongst fans is TikToker Grace ‘GK’ Barry who has already appeared on the UK version of I’m a Celeb. Could she be back for her second chance at the jungle crown?

Reality Royalty

Another reality star is slated to head to the jungle. The cryptic clue states: “She’s conquered one house, but can she conquer the camp?” The house has many speculating about Big Brother winners. The top pick amongst fans is Regina (Reggie) Sorensen who won the third and fourteenth seasons of Big Brother Australia. She’s the only contestant to have won twice.

Influencer

An Influencer with a “taste for love” is heading to the African jungle. In a recent Instagram post, the secretive Influencer stated that their celebrity lookalikes are Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, and Vanessa Hudgens. Fans are guessing Ella Dink, Martha K and Tilly Whitfield.

The new season of I’m A Celeb Australia will premiere on Channel Ten and 10Play on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
