Showtime has officially renewed its critically acclaimed series Yellowjackets for a fourth season, following a record-breaking third season that captivated audiences and critics alike. The announcement was made on May 20, 2025, by Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, who praised the show’s unique blend of psychological horror, survival thriller, and coming-of-age drama. And if you’re like me or Kaitlyn Fung on TikTok the news of this was VERY exciting.
Co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, along with show-runner Jonathan Lisco, have consistently envisioned Yellowjackets as a five-season arc. Lyle emphasized the importance of a satisfying conclusion, stating that the deeply serialized nature of the story necessitates a finite run.
Stars of the show such as Samantha Hanratty, Liv Newton, and Courtney Eaton took to Instagram to share the good news.
Season 3 concluded on April 11, 2025, with a finale that teased the possibility of rescue for the stranded characters. Despite this development, the creators have indicated that there is still ample story to explore, particularly concerning the characters’ reintegration into society after their harrowing experiences in the wilderness.

The series has seen a steady increase in viewership, with the season three premiere attracting nearly 2 million viewers, marking a significant rise from previous seasons. This growth underscores the show’s expanding fanbase and cultural impact. I rebuke all the hate for the season personally.
While an official premiere date for Season 4 has not been announced, production timelines suggest a potential release in late 2026. Key cast members, including Melanie Sophie, Liv Newton, Turner, Christina Ricci, Sophie Nélisse, and Tawny Cypress, are expected to return, continuing to bring depth to the dual-timeline narrative that has become a hallmark of the series.

As a fan of the show I expect the season wil delve into the rescue, Natalie’s spiral into addiction, the breakups of Taivan and a reunion of Natrav, Shauna’s marriage (in both timelines), and Misty will be in her bag getting a real job and playing detective on Reddit.
And maybe just maybe, Hot Topic Canada will get the letterman’s jacket finally?
Or Paramount+ can feel free to hit me up and send me one?
