#CinemaSunday: Seed of Chucky (2004)

With the blueray release of the strangely popular 2014 horror “Annabelle” approaching I thought now would be a good  time to pay homage to some of horror’s best creepy dolls.
This is of course not the first horror film to touch on the creep factor that is dolls. One of the biggest grossing franchises of doll oriented horror films is Child’s Play. Thus, this week’s pick is the “latest” in the string of Chucky films “Seed of Chucky“. Let’s get parental.

Genre: Horror/Comedy

You’ll notice that I listed comedy as one of the genres, I’m not entirely sure if the film is listed as a comedy but I sure laughed at it. The film focuses on Glen/Glenda aka Shitface, a young doll (who talks and is pretty gross looking) working in the ventriloquist circuit. All their life Glen/Glenda believed they were an orphan until a promo for a new horror film starring his real parents Chucky and Tiffany. Glen/Glenda makes their way to Hollywood for a family reunion. The family love fest is filled with murder, obviously, and a plan to transfer the 3 doll’s spirits into the bodies of Jennifer Tilly (voice of Tiffany), and Redman (yes, take that in a for a minute).
Chucky and Tiffany’s spawn however has a hard time coming to terms with the whole you know mass murder thing, so that adds some conflict.

I have such a soft spot for Chucky movies, Tiffany remains a style icon to me (don’t judge me.). This film wasn’t exactly what I expect nor what I wanted though. I certainly prefer Bride of Chucky MUCH more.
