#TMI Tuesday: 10 Questions with Producer/Director James Cullen Bressack

Anyone who knows me knows that I love film, and if my weekly film reviews for #CinemaSunday didn’t give that away, or my clapper phone case then you should probably re-evaluate how you assess things. This week I was stoked to interview someone who you will undoubtedly see racking up awards in the near future.  This week’s feature is actor/director/producer/Eli Roth’s new bff judging by instagram: James Cullen Bressack.

1. What has been your favourite project to work on so far and why?

My favorite project to work on so far was probably PERNICIOUS. I had developed the story for quite some time and it was my first crack at a halfway decent budget. Not to mention shooting in Thailand. The film took me out of the country for the first time and really opened my eyes to the world.

PERNICIOUS

2. You’re big on social media, always tweeting, how cool is it to be able to interact with your fans, and industry peers?

I think it’s an important part of why I get work to begin with. I would be nothing without my fans and supporters. I love interacting with them online through twitter and some of them have actually become friends as well as people I work with.

3. What is your inspiration for your projects? How do you choose a project?

I am inspired to make movies by a love of storytelling so naturally I pick a project that tells a good story. Something that connects to my life. I like to believe that a small piece of me is in ever single film that I make. It represents a part of my life.  Think of me as like a good __________ (he who shall not be named) and each of my films is a horcruix.

4. Since this is TMI Tuesday, can you tell the readers something they may not know about you?

I am legitimately afraid of airplanes and I prefer baths over showers.

5. What’s worse, a sequel or a remake?

A remake. Hate those, but really only when it’s a remake of a foreign language film. Don’t get me started about that. Just read subtitles. The original is always better.

6. What are your predictions for the winners at The 2015 Academy Awards?

I will likely go up on stage and win every award. If i don’t win, I will Kanye this s**t.  But probably Birdman and Boyhood for everything.

7. What is your new year’s resolution?

To come up with a good new years resolution for next year.

8. What advice do you have for aspiring film makers?

Go out there and pick up a camera. It doesn’t matter what budget you have, make something you know you can for that budget, even if it’s a vine video. Just get out there and start creating.

9. There are SO many shows revolving around supernatural beings, and horror. What is your favourite of the bunch?

The Walking Dead. I am mega addicted. This midseason break needs to be over already.

10. What’s next for you? What are you currently working on?

I have 3 movies I am doing back to back this year. Only one of them is horror. I’ll be dropping details periodically so keep an eye on my twitter @jamescullenb for more details
