#FitnessFriday: Healthier Holiday Sugar Cookies

Okay so us Canadians have had 2 months to burn off that Thanksgiving food, my Southern neighbour pals have had merely a month. Let’s try to make this easier for y’all, since you got a lump of coal headed for the oval office soon.

One of the most redeeming qualities of the holiday season is FOOD, so here is a healthier (because cookies are never healthy) recipe to the more popular sugar cookie recipes!

Healthier Easy Sugar Cookies

What you need:

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking power
1/4 nonfat plain yogurt
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup white sugar (or Splenda!)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Stir flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl.
  2. Beat butter, yogurt, and sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Add egg allowing it to blend into butter mixture. Beat in vanilla extract. Mix in flour mixture until just incorporated. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
  3. Bake in preheated oven until golden, 8 to 10 minutes. Let stand on baking sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
