ZHU returns with a double-dose of good news today with the release of a hot new collaboration with Tinashe, plus a brand-new COVID-19-focused merchandise line.
The haunting new single, “ONLY,” written and produced by both ZHU and Tinashe, is a song that spans the spectrum from loneliness to connection, quiet to frenzy, darkness to light, and features searing interplay between the two distinctive vocalists. It is available for online download now via Astralwerks.
Set against the backdrop of the global lockdown, the official music video for “ONLY” explores the connection between isolation and voyeurism as viewers look in on ZHU and Tinashe, each alone in a downtown loft. The video was directed by Jack Murgatroyd (Coldplay, Flume, ODESZA), who also helmed ZHU’s “Came For The Low” video.
Director Jack Murgatroyd says, “The video nods to the current moment, that ubiquitous feeling of uncertainty and uneasiness. This was our creative approach to exploring those emotions, our abstract way of trying to tap into our feelings of isolation and redundancy.”
