That’s right, Canada has spoken and we prefer President’s Choice mac and cheese to Kraft Dinner. According to Narcity the childhood classic KD has been taken down a few places on the favourites list of Canadians. Not to brag but I’ve been on the PC white cheddar train for a while now. However, you don’t have to have a boring (although it tastes amazing on its own) and plain version of the new Canadian 88 cent favourite. I put together a few of my favourite twists for the boxed pasta meal for your cooking pleasure.
1. Taco mac & cheese:
Combine taco seasoning, chopped onions, green peppers, avocado and shredded cheddar cheese with your PC mac and cheese. (optional: add fresh tomatoes or salsa on top).
2. Garlic greens mac & cheese:

In garlic butter pan fry: broccoli, asparagus, and spinach. Add green peas to the pasta mix, and combine all for inhalation.
3. Fancy pantsy cranberry and brie mac & cheese:
Typically I’m all for canned cranberry sauce but this requires real cranberries so I’m sorry you can’t use the leftover can from the holidays. Make the PC white cheddar your usual way, then add some cranberries (less than a handful), and some brie (use your discretion).
4. Cheeseburger mac & cheese:
This one takes a little more effort but it’s worth it. Pan fry ground beef (or Yves ground round if meat isn’t your thing), chopped onions, and pickles. Leave to simmer after cooking, and start the PC mac and cheese. Once completed combine both and add cheddar cheese, ketchup, and a tiny splash of mustard.
5. The Nikki Sin seafood classic:
Make like two boxes of PC mac and cheese white cheddar then add: crab meat (lobster if you’re fancy), garlic butter, mushrooms, and shrimp. I survive off of this very often.
I’m going to make these for the kids omfg they sound so yummy
